29-year-old American boxer Regis Prograis, holder of the WBC Welterweight Interim Title, is very pleased to take part in the second season of the World Boxing Super Series and hopes that a victory in the tournament will give his career more than an immediate fight with the owner of a full-fledged WBC belt at this weight jose carlos ramirez. True to this, Regis Prograis needs to defeat Juan José Velasco in a fight scheduled for July 14th.
“In fact, I don’t even know who he is,” Prograis said in an interview with boxingtalk.com. – Perhaps it is worth finding out something about him, but as a boxer I cannot judge the strength of an opponent until I find myself in the ring. I know that I should not be injured before the tournament, and it is assumed that this is an intermediate fight for me. But I do not think that I will be unduly cautious in this fight. I will lead my fight. ”
Before the proposal to participate in the Super Series, Regis sought a battle for the WBC title with Ramirez, but now he believes that he received the offer better, and the fight with Ramirez can wait.
“The fee for the tournament is so good that it cannot be missed, and, in addition, two championship belts will be played in it,” noted Regis Prograis. – After the tournament I will have much better positions for good fees. I still want to meet with Ramirez, if he is still the WBC champion, because I will have titles for the unification bout. ”
“I know that Josh Taylor and Victor Postol will fight for the same title that I have, I don’t know how this is possible, but the winner of this fight will become a mandatory challenger for Ramirez, but I also heard that Josh Taylor is going to take part in Super Series, if Postol wins, of which I am sure. But if he does not take part in the tournament, I think he will win Ramirez, ”Regis Prograis added.
